24p Firmware update coming to the Canon 5D Mark II

Finally for all us Photographers using the Canon 5D Mark II DLRs to capture HD video, Canon has announced that a free firmware update, will be available for download this month.  Finally in addition the the current supported framerates of 30fps, we will get 24p which is the framerate used by the motion picture industry.  See the Canon poster below for all the details.

Note: the newer Canon 7D and 1D Mark IV cameras also support 24p video and in addition both support 720p60, which it looks like us 5D Mark II owners will not be getting.

The firmware version 2.03 when available will be downloadable from the following links.

The Inheritance from Douglas Cebik.

My submission for Chapter 2: to the Canon – Vimeo HD Video contest entitled “Beyond the Still”

This chapter is a Prequel taking place prior to Chapter 1. This chapter fills in details about the key, the trunk and how the bear got to the airport.

Filmed with the Canon 5D Mark II, and the following lenses:

Canon 16-40 F4 L
Canon 50mm F1.4
Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro

I was both the camera operator and primary actor, which limited the camera movements possible without another camera operator. Edited with Adobe Premier Pro CS4.
